Wisdom of Marion Vol 1.13

“If you wait until the wind and the weather is just right, you will never plant anything and never harvest anything.”

Ecclesiastes 11:4 (Today’s English Version)

It seems in our lives, we get great ideas that will make us wealthy, get out of debt, solve a society problem, or anything that will make our lives better. Well, those ideas are probably great because the human mind has the ability to give us those ideas.

But, most people won’t do anything with those ideas. It’s just thoughts and talking. There are a number of reasons: I’ll wait until my kids are grown, I’m totally out of debt, I need to date as many people I can before I commit to someone, I need to finish college, and I could go on and on.

I have learned there is no such thing as the perfect time to do anything. There will always be something that will stop you from doing what you want to do. You have to step out on faith and just do it.

Remember everything in life started with a seed: when you were born, a house started with a blueprint, and getting out of debt started with a written plan of action. No matter what it is a seed was planted and then watered to grow and the harvest came in a later season.

Don’t over analyze or wait for the perfect time to do what you really want with your life. You have the right to life the very best life you can create.

But it always starts with a seed and you have to water it until your harvest comes.

  1. I think it’s funny because just earlier this evening, I was telling my 24 yr old daughter (who still lives at home) that she needs to just DO IT! She wants to go to college, but doesn’t have the money (and we don’t either). She can’t afford it. I told her with that attitude she’ll never go to college. She wants to marry and raise a family, but keeps shying away from guys when they want to get serious because she devotes all her time to her friends. I told her in five years she’ll be almost thirty – and by then a lot of life will have passed her by. I’m praying she takes my advice and justs DO IT! lol

  2. I live a few miles from the Nike campus. “Just Do It!” is an iconic phrase here in the Portland area. But, there’s no mojo in living near the nexus of the idea, I still have to climb out of bed everyday and motivate myself to do what needs to be done to write my novels.

It’s tough but as Marie said above, LIFE WILL PASS YOU BY! The hours, days, and years don’t care if you’re active or not. God cares and you care, and if you are fortunate you have some people around you who care.

We do wither like grass. Make hay while the sin shines is not some sweet, provincial saying. The time to do it is now.

  3. Love this post Marion! I hear these “reasons” a lot. I usually follow up with the question..”What would you do if you were not afraid?” Time goes by even if you do not want it to…..it’s amazing when you step out of that comfort zone or when you actually execute an idea how strong one person really is!!
